Game Level Designer

We are looking for a Game Level Designer to join our team. In this role, you will design, test, and optimize level systems for Arcustin’s mobile games, shaping the difficulty, pacing, and fun patterns that drive player engagement, retention, and LTV.

At Arcustin Games, we are building a mobile game studio that uses AI to reduce friction from idea to scale. Octopus, our proprietary AI studio engine, helps us create, test, market, and grow games with more speed, clarity, and precision. Responsibilities;

  • Design, test, optimize, and fine-tune levels for Arcustin’s mobile games

  • Build engaging level flows that balance challenge, fun, clarity, progression, and replayability

  • Design level difficulty curves, pacing patterns, and progression systems that support retention, monetization, and LTV

  • Analyze player behavior, level performance, fail rates, completion rates, session data, and progression funnels to improve level quality

  • Deconstruct competitor games to understand level structures, difficulty algorithms, progression patterns, and engagement loops

  • Work closely with product, game design, engineering, art, data, and growth teams to align level design with product goals

  • Collaborate with the Octopus Product Owner and engineering team to support AI-assisted level generation, testing, and optimization workflows

  • Create structured level design rules, patterns, templates, and documentation that can support scalable level production

  • Contribute to creative discussions around game mechanics, features, content, and player experience

  • Test new and existing levels regularly to ensure quality, balance, and consistency

  • Propose improvements to Arcustin’s internal level design tools, workflows, and production processes

  • Turn data insights, market signals, and player feedback into clear level design decisions

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in level design, game design, product design, or a similar role

  • Experience with mobile games, puzzle games, casual games, or level-based games is strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of level difficulty, pacing, player motivation, progression, and game feel

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret player data and turn insights into level design improvements

  • Ability to deconstruct competitor games and identify the systems behind engaging level progression

  • Creative problem-solving skills with a strong sense of what makes a level fun, clear, and satisfying

  • Interest in AI-assisted game design, level generation, and tool-based production workflows

  • Ability to work closely with product, engineering, art, data, and growth teams

  • Strong attention to detail and high standards for quality, balance, and player experience

  • Good communication skills and ability to document level design logic clearly

  • Passion for mobile games and curiosity about what makes players continue, return, and progress

  • Good command of written and spoken English

  • Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Design, or a related field is a plus
